By the Rivers of Bersenbrück
Once a year, the province of Lower Saxony is the navel of the reggae world. Most of the sidewalks in Bersenbrück are not even folded down, but on the first weekend in August, the air shimmers with Caribbean joie de vivre. On the cow pasture behind the place a huge colorful tent city has emerged and has made the population to double the size.
In the picturesque monastery garden between time-honored half-timbered facades and tranquilly rippling creeks, the stars of the international scene, veterans and newcomers on two large and several smaller stages and sound stations will honor and delight visitors from all over Europe.
But it's not just the musical quality and the exotic guests that make the Reggae Jam so special: the little town itself also plays a big part in ensuring that the atmosphere here is so reggae-magical: the whole of Bersenbrück is in the reggae jam fever and welcomes the illustrious visitors an absolutely stunning hospitality that is second to none in the festival scene.
As initiator Bernd Lagemann aka Sheriff campaigned for the first reggae jam a quarter of a century ago, he met with the city fathers still on skepticism. In the meantime, the festival has become an important economic factor and the whole city is involved. No festival is more popular with reggae heads, none charming. And also in 26. Year is again: "Bersenbrück, you are ready?" And Bersenbrück spreads his arms and welcomes the vibe.
